Delaware Landscape Design

Waterfalls and Ponds

The homeowners of this Lewes, Delaware home requested the services of OEI to design a total landscape plan for their backyard entertainment and outdoor living. OEI was excited when the homeowners elected us to install the entire job, which was a 3-month undertaking. The project consisted of block walls with pillars and a custom, natural Pennsylvania veneer. OEI had the above day stones custom-made for the client. Over 2,000 square feet of pavers were installed with intricate medallion inlays and borders. A one-of-a-kind pond was built above ground and features the newest in filter technology, which means it will require very little maintenance. Over 200 tons of dirt were brought in for the making of the earth berms to give the landscaping a 3-dimensional look. The homeowner also asked OEI to install custom vinyl fencing and irrigation system, equipped with a designated well. OEI installed aquatic lighting, lights recessed in the retaining walls, a fire pit and a stone bench. To complete the job, OEI installed specimen trees and shrubs.

Poolside Back Yard

OEI was requested by this Rehoboth, Delaware beach house owner for a landscaping theme for this backyard. OEI met the challenge by building a 3-foot-high concrete block wall to level off the area for the new pool deck. A brick paver pool deck was built to provide an area for dining, lounging and cooking. The great project included a wide variety of drainage solutions, including a couple hundred feet of underground piping and dry wells. While they were on the job, OEI converted a two-car garage into a pool house bar and changing area. A pergoa, complete with a ceiling fan, was added to the front of the pool house. To finish out the landscaping around the new addition, two truckloads of lush specimen trees and shrubs were brought in to provide a colorful backdrop. To illuminate the new recreation area, a 24-volt illumination package was installed.

Italian Formal Garden

OEI met the expectations of this homeowner by providing a timeless, formal look with boxwood hedges and the installation of an EP Henry tumbled wall system with a natural blue stone coping. OEI also installed a stone medallion with brick edging to tie in the new front walk. The installation was completed with a three-tier fountain and an underwater lighting low-voltage package. Finally, irrigation and new sod were added to set off the landscaping.

Sunken Front Entrance Garden

The homeowners of a Rehoboth, Delaware home were so happy with their beach house landscaping design and installation that they invited OEI out to their Annapolis residence. The homeowner requested new off-street parking for three cars. Before paving could begin, OEI had to uproot and remove a few large trees. Then we installed a substantial retaining wall of natural stone and PA boulders. New natural stone steps and a custom wrought iron railing were installed. A new paver walkway was constructed to create an aesthetically pleasing transition from space to space. The sunken garden was completed with lush year-round blooming plants and newly planted sod to pull everything together.

Driveway installation

The homeowner of this Milton, Delaware residence requested a large garden island to be designed to create a circle drive in front of their new residence. OEI met the challenge by constructing an 18” stone wall to elevate the grade leading to their new one-of-a-kind pondless waterfall. Over 10 tons of rocks and boulders were required to complete the natural-looking three-tier stream. OEI also brought in 60 tons of top soil to complete the planting phase to this project. The planting was installed to provide year-round interest and blend the pond into its surroundings.

The homeowner liked the results of the project so much they invited OEI back out in 2 months to install a patio and exterior lighting in the rear of the house.
